Hello friends, and welcome!
Today has been a good day. As I type, we are in that strange week between Christmas and New Years Day. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time off, and I think tomorrow will be just like today. Hooray!
I have been reading like crazy. This year, I am determined to get a hold of my thought life and to keep a peaceful mind. I have been learning strategies which have really helped me, but I’m not going to share until I’ve really had a chance to try them out!
Our happiness depends so much on our thought life. It is important to invest in this part of ourselves. We are worth it, and our families will definitely benefit also if we are more at peace.
Marcus Aurelius once said, “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts; guard accordingly and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.”
I like to think of my mind as a garden with a beautiful fence and gate surrounding it. In it, I grow my favorite flowers and plants. It is a lovely place that helps me to calmly handle whatever I may encounter in life.
The garden of my mind needs to be guarded, which is why I constructed a fence around it. No weeds allowed!
When a thought sneaks in which is below my expectations, I decide to banish it. Goodbye. I do not want to hear from you again, thank you very much.
I combat these bad thoughts with good ones that I have prepared beforehand. Whenever fear or worry creeps in, I consciously shift my attention to the good thoughts I have on hand.
This takes practice, but over time, it really works. We can take control of our minds. Happiness starts in our thoughts, and we are worth the work it takes to cultivate a happy and healthy mind.
Thank you so much for stopping by today, friends! I will be back to talk to you soon.
