What a Privilege to be Home

Hey friends, and welcome.

I hope you are doing well! I am counting down the minutes until bedtime. I usually am a wonderful sleeper, but last night I tossed and turned. I needed to wake up early to take my daughter to a dental appointment, and I was nervous about the drive and parking situation. I think this was why I slept poorly, anyway. I wasn’t really thinking about this in a conscious way, but I know I do tend to worry about driving.

Well, the drive went great. I am so grateful.

Once I arrived home, I realized I had left the house for one reason or another for six days straight. Six days! This is very unlike me, and it made me realize just how thankful I am for my regular life. I love the sacredness of home.

Home is my special place, and there is no place I’d rather be. It contains all of my favorite people and things. It’s where I’m most comfortable to rest. This is where I’ve read so much, and have learned so much. I love waking up here each day.

Marcus Aurelius wrote, “When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

These are the kind of thoughts that encourage me to continue learning about my purpose. I feel most purposeful here, in my home. For me, it is both a privilege to be alive, and to be alive here. I am needed here, and I am able to nurture my family and tend the land surrounding my home with care.

I’m currently working on de-tangling our woods. Seriously. I feel like there once was a whole lot of negative energy going on around here for the woods to be in the shape they are in. Vines have choked out so much of our trees, along with thorns and brambles. But now we are here to help bring it back to life.

What a purpose and privilege.

I hope you consider the precious privilege it is to be alive today. Each little thing that we encounter is either good, or has the potential to bring good to the world.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
