No. 5: Notes from Home | Returning Home

Ah, home. We just returned home from my daughter’s birthday celebration, and we were welcomed by the Mockingbird’s song and sparkling twilight. The ground shone with moisture, and I promise my plants grew while we were gone.

I felt like taking a big ol’ contented sigh while I settled back into our home.

Plans always seem like lots of fun when I’m making them, but to be honest… I’m always so glad to return back home!

Home is where I can totally relax. It feels so good to just enjoy the quiet of our land, with lots of sounds coming from our children, of course!

I used to try to fight this feeling, but I’ve realized there is nothing wrong with being a homebody or introvert. And goodness, it feels so good to just accept myself for who I am while spending most of my time around our home and property.

When we returned home tonight, I took a good look at the garden and watered a few things. I handed over a new $5.00 book about rocks and minerals that we found at a book store. My four year old hugged me tightly, explaining how he was a baby skunk and I was his owner. The lamplight glowed from the living room, while several of my children hung out on the couch.

Home.

Home doesn’t need to be a fancy place, although it could be if you’d like it to. I am trying my best to be a more conscious consumer at the moment, except when it comes to plants, haha.

Speaking of plants, we purchased an Apricot Drift Rose while we were out too, and I just can’t wait to get it into the garden. Ground cover roses are new to me, and I can’t wait to see how they grow. The blooms are absolutely precious! I am trying to get all of the planting done this spring, before the heat of summer really kicks in. Can any of you relate?

Anyhow, I am very happy that I’ve turned into a big homebody. There is nothing wrong with that.

I’ve really enjoyed writing to you today. Now the time has come for me to play with fabric and work on an Etsy order. So much fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by, friends.
