As October rolls by, I’ve been completely taken by its beauty.
It’s gorgeous, y’all. Each and every moment of it.
One of my practices is to mindfully pay attention to whatever is in front of me. When I do this in October, it’s almost overwhelming.
I can tell that the sun is lower in the sky, and a lot of times it looks like daylight has an orange glow to it. Perhaps it’s the sun filtering through the trees. Whatever it is, it’s beautiful.
The moon is almost full. The Hunter’s Moon will rise on Thursday, which I’m excited about. Earlier in the week, I sat on my driveway after the sun had set, and gazed at the moon with my husband. He pulled out his binoculars and we had a fine time checking it out.
I’m relishing the last few weeks before the first frost. I grew Oxeye daisies under grow lights in my basement over the summer, and they are ready to be planted. I transplanted most of them a few days ago, and hope to finish the rest of them soon. It’s wonderful to get my hands in the soil.
Of course, I’ve been thinking about how to continue growing as a person, too. I want to be a kinder human being each day, and a better wife and mama, too.
I’m so thankful for the time I get to spend with my family. I know not everyone gets to spend their days at home with their children. I try my best not to take it for granted. It is a gift to be with them, and I’m thankful for our slow and simple days.

I’d like to share one more blessing with you before I go. Earlier in the week, I finished writing a book called 31 Days of Rest : Daily Thoughts for Tired Moms. I wrote a very similar book years ago, only from a Christian perspective. Since I left my faith, I’ve felt led to re-write what I can from my new, non-religious perspective.
This book is a compilation of 31 “devotion” style thoughts about resting as a mom. I hope this book is an encouragement for all who read it.
It officially releases on January 7, 2025, and is available for pre-order now.
I probably will share more about it as the release date gets closer. I’m just so excited about it, and had to share!
I hope you are having an amazing October so far, dear reader.
