A November of Gratitude | I’m Thankful for My Children

Is it just me, or is November flying by? The temperature around here is just now cooling down, which is why it might feel this way to me.

Welcome to the blog today, friends. I thought today I might share a few thoughts about my children, and why I’m so grateful for them.

As the years have passed, I’ve realized that my children’s stories aren’t mine to tell. I love to share about the lessons I’ve learned as a mother, though. Becoming a mom is truly one of the most important things that has ever happened to me.

As a mom, I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned that life isn’t all about me, and that tending to others’ needs can bring so much fulfillment to my life. I’ve also learned lessons in letting go, and trusting the process.

Being a mother is so special, for many reasons. It’s pretty amazing to feel someone growing inside of you, and then to get to watch them mature into an adult.

As I’ve watched this process play out, I’ve learned to become more gentle with my parenting. My children have taught me just as many lessons as I’ve taught them, which I’m very thankful for.

Being a mother has humbled me in a lot of ways. Just when I thought I had something figured out when it came to parenting, I realized that I didn’t.

This cycle has taught me to laugh at myself, and to roll with the punches. To not take life so seriously.

They say that the days are long and the years are short. I’ve definitely found this to be true when it comes to motherhood. Motherhood has taught me to squeeze every last drop of goodness out of life, because it changes so very fast.

One minute, you are caring for a helpless infant. The next, they are grown.

So yes, motherhood has taught me so many lessons.

And I’m grateful for them all.

I’m sure that my children will continue to teach me things, and I’m here for it. Hopefully, each day I’m growing into a better version of myself, and into a better mother.

While we all want to experience the highs in life, I’d like to encourage you to not shy away from the lows, either. I’ve walked through some “lows” in motherhood that have been pretty difficult, but they have molded me into the person I am today, and have taught me a lot of lessons. For that, I’m very grateful.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, friends. Thank you so much for stopping by today!
