Hey friends, and welcome to the blog!
It has been such a great week. I think after one month of battling sickness in our home, everyone is feeling much better.
It’s such a relief. If you are a member of a large family, I bet you know what I’m talking about!
With that (hopefully) behind us, it’s time to start looking towards the future.
So, Happy February!
Today through tomorrow is close to the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Called Imbolc by some who follow the wheel of the year, I prefer to call it Brightening.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, the days are growing longer. I can definitely tell that spring is just around the corner.
In the Celtic tradition, Imbolc is considered the first day of spring, and the Spring Equinox is actually mid-spring. I can see how both methods make sense.
Unfortunately, we will be in the car for most of the day, and I will not be able to celebrate this time as well as I could if I was at home. (But we are heading to the beach for a few days, which is an awesome thing that I’m not complaining about!)
During Brightening, it is a time to continue welcoming back the light. Some might:
- Light candles.
- Perform cleansing rituals to clear away the darkness of winter.
- Wear white and light blue to celebrate purity and renewal, or green and yellow, which are traditional Imbolc colors.
- Have a feast.
No matter what you choose to do (or not do), Brightening is a time to honor the “first light of spring.” Spring is coming, friends!

I hope you have an amazing February, and that January was kind to you.
January was fantastic for me, on the writing front. I might share more about that with you soon, along with some beach pictures.
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
