A Lazy, Rainy Sunday

,

It has been a beautiful, rainy day. The storms rolling through our neck of the woods woke me up around 3 am, and I’ve been up ever since. It is evening, and I’m just now able to step foot outdoors for a walk after the rain. It is still misty, cool, and a chorus of frogs are chirping across the road. A Wood Thrush’s song adds to the beauty of the day, too.

Ah, April. How beautiful you are.

This morning I started the day just a little out of sorts, with my lack of sleep and all. I try to never comment on negative things on social media, if I can help it. But today, I found myself doing so not one, but two times.

How easy it is to be a keyboard warrior. But over time I’ve realized this usually doesn’t help anything at all. Except my stress level, perhaps. Opinions rarely change based on a comment left on social media. So after reminding myself of this, I stepped away from my phone for a while and did a few other things.

It has been a perfectly lazy Sunday. Which are my favorite kind! I’ve enjoyed writing, reading, and crafting, which are some of my favorite things to do. All while rain has fallen outside. It’s been perfectly lovely.

I really enjoy creating things. I say creating is much better than consuming. So I’ve piddled in my craft area and spent time on my computer, creating a few things from my heart.

I’m in the middle of rereading The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer. It’s one of those books that I’d like to read once a year or so. It always encourages me to surrender to life’s perfection, and to try my best to go with the flow, not worrying so much about my own personal preferences.

A quote from the book: “My formula for success was very simple: Do whatever is put in front of you with all your heart and soul without regard for personal results. Do the work as though it were given to you by the universe itself – because it was.”

I like this way of thinking. As a spiritual person, it’s easy to think so much about the spiritual side of things that I’m not much earthly good. Or, the other way around. I’ve found it better to understand spiritual and physical things are interconnected. To me everything is holy, sacred, and special. All of my interactions have the potential to encourage or help others. And if I accept what is in front of me with all of my heart and soul and give it all of my attention, life just feels so much simpler.

Though I don’t talk about spiritual things on my blog very often, that’s my two cents.

I hope you’ve had a lovely day, friends. If you live on my side of the United States, you likely experienced a lot of rain. I hope you enjoyed it, and it brought feelings of renewal and happiness to your life.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
