Becoming a Wise Woman No. 1

,

Hello friends, and welcome to the blog today.

I love to study spirituality and religion, and I’ve been re-reading a book called Women’s Wisdom: The Garden of Peace for Women by Rabbi Shalom Arush (affiliate link). This time, I’ve taken notes while reading. I love to either take notes or highlight my non-fiction books to help me grasp what I’m learning.

This morning it dawned on me that it might be helpful to share some of my notes with you. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Every so often, I’ll post my thoughts which are directly related to or are quotes from Rabbi Arush.

For the past seven years or so, I’ve loved adding Jewish books to my library. I hope you enjoy!

  • Proverbs 14:1 states, “Women’s wisdom built her home.” The wisdom a of a woman is the cornerstone and foundation of her home.
  • There are several types of wisdom women should seek, including wisdom to build herself, her spirituality, her husband, and her children.
  • A women’s wisdom passes onto subsequent generations.
  • An unselfish woman with compassion is a fitting spiritual vessel.
  • It is difficult to gauge how a man will react in situations after you are married, so find a man with good character.
  • Successful marriage requires hard work and compatibility, not perfection. We must learn to live with our spouse’s shortcomings and focus on their good points.
  • Love your husband just the way he is.
  • The entire purpose of marriage is to bring a person to the true service of God. With this in mind, we can have the patience and power to endure hardships.
  • Don’t be arrogant.
  • Marriage is a way to fulfill creation’s purpose.
  • Everything in this world depends on marital peace.
  • A family’s physical and mental well being depends on peace in the home.
  • If a husband and wife aren’t in harmony then the true purpose of creation will not be attained.
  • In Genesis 1:27, the word “man” refers to both male and female together. One without the other is not complete according to this way of thinking.
  • When a genuine connection between a man and woman is missing, the Heavenly image of man is incomplete.
