Hello friends, and welcome to my blog today.
June has been flying by, and I thought I’d share a few pieces of my garden with you today. It has been raining a lot, and my plants have been loving it.
We live in Northwest Georgia, in zone 8. Though grow zones were officially adjusted a few years ago, it still sounds weird for me to say this. I was so used to growing in zone 7!
This year, I’m mainly growing flowers and herbs in my garden, since these are my favorite things to grow. I am growing a few tomato, pepper, and cucumber plants, though.

Dahlias
My dahlias are growing beautifully this year! For the first time ever, I allowed them to overwinter in my garden instead of digging up the tubers. I did cover them with a few layers of cardboard, which I think helped them survive.
Dahlias are native to Mexico, Central America, and Northern South America. They are actually edible, and the Aztecs even used dahlias to treat epilepsy.
As for me, I love to bring them inside as cut flowers. They are so beautiful and I love them so much.

Yarrow
Yarrow is a perennial herb with the daintiest white flowers. It is such a beautiful addition to my garden, and it has really taken off this year. I planted yarrow seeds two years ago, and this year the plants are growing beautifully.
It has a long history of medicinal use, and one of the easiest ways to use it is to make tea with it. Yarrow can improve wound healing, reduce inflammation, and improve digestive health.

Marshmallow
Marshmallow is a beautiful herb that is used for ornamental uses, too. The leaves, flowers and the roots of this plant have been used in traditional herbal medicine. It is traditionally used as in tea, tinctures, salves, or gargles.
I planted these seeds last year, and was excited to see how they’d look in 2025. I’m very pleased by how they are doing, and especially like their super soft leaves.
I like to grow perennial herbs that will come back year after year. Usually they spread each year, too which is amazing. It always is a fun surprise to see where new plants have popped up each spring.
I’m so grateful to God for my garden, and the plants that have taken root here.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today, friends. If you have a garden, I hope it is doing wonderfully!
