I love January. It feels like a fresh start, which is pretty awesome.
My kids don’t always feel the same way, though. The nights in January are still dark and long, and we usually spend most of our time indoors after dinner.
With just a little bit of planning, we can give our children something to look forward to when it just makes more sense to stay indoors. Here’s a list of ideas to encourage family togetherness and fun!
- Have a Family Movie Night.
- Make and drink Hot Chocolate together.
- Make a puzzle.
- Play a board game.
- Make treats for outdoor birds with pine cones rolled in peanut butter and bird seed.
- Cut out snowflakes.
- Read books about winter and snow.
- Read a book aloud.
- Write letters to a friend.

Here are a few craft ideas to try:
- Make a paper plate snowman.
- Make a snow globe.
- Make a puffy paint polar bear.
- Make crystal icicles.
- Here’s a list of 25 snowman crafts.
- Are penguins more your thing? Here you go!
I really hope to do some of these activities with my children this month.
I hope y’all have an amazing January. If you try any of these suggestions, I’d love to know how it goes. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!
