Acting in Stillness & The Beautiful Lowcountry

What a nice few days it has been. On Wednesday, most of my family members and I headed to the beach.

I just love the lowcountry of South Carolina. The marsh along with local wildlife makes the area spectacular!

Yesterday, we walked around a bird nesting ground in Port Royal. We saw Wood Stork, Little Blue Heron, and Egret nestlings. The whole area was a beautiful commotion of life!

Today, we walked more nature trails, and visited both a shell and rock shop. This is definitely my idea of fun.

But on Wednesday, it was a different story.

We’d decided to drive our old trusty twelve passenger van to have lots of space on the journey. But around Augusta, Georgia, it began to have some problems.

Though we’d left town already, we promptly turned back around. After the issue was diagnosed at an auto repair shop, we decided to rent a car to finish our journey. A trip that was supposed to take us 6-7 hours took us 12.

On my phone, I love to put Inspirational quotes on my lock screen. This is what I currently look at whenever I open my phone:

“Who acts in stillness finds stillness in his life.” -Lao Tzu

This was such a good reminder to me at that very moment. It usually does no good to become upset in a situation like this one, does it? Yet sometimes, this is our first reaction.

But thankfully, I chose stillness. There were actually so many graces along that drive. There were two different routes we could’ve taken, and if we’d chosen the other the issue would’ve happened in the middle of nowhere. We’ve been super comfortable driving an amazing rental the last few days, too.

It’s always good to look at the bright side of things, isn’t it?

I definitely think so.

Before I go, I thought I’d share a few photos with you all. Spending time with my family in nature has been wonderful. I’ve also found a lot more time than normal to read, which has been very relaxing.

We always love the scavenger hunt at the Port Royal Sound Maritime Center. You can support their work here.

We are staying in the cutest little nook of beach homes. I snapped this picture as I was leaving for my morning run.

The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island is always a treat. Support them here.

I always enjoy seeing beautiful butterflies and flowers.

Those are some big boots to fill!

I hope you have an amazing weekend ahead of you, friends!
