A Slow and Purposeful December

,

Hello dear friends, and welcome to the blog today.

I’m still settling into the idea that it’s already December. November was full of both love and fun, and I’m holding so many dear memories from this past month close to my heart.

This past week was especially nice. Not only did we celebrate Thanksgiving, but I got so much organization done. Ah, it feels so nice! I still have a few things I’d like to tend to before the year ends, but rearranging a few things in our home already has made a huge difference.

So now, I’m looking forward to December, wondering what I will accomplish. We have only a small bit of home school work to finish before we put our books aside until 2026. I think this week I’ll focus on that, along with my Etsy shop. I love making heirloom-quality bows for all sorts of occasions. Oh, and of course I’ll do a little bit of writing, too. I’m in between novels at the moment, and am gearing up to begin another one soon.

I love sourcing quality fabric for the bows I make!

Honestly, while I’d love to have a “slow” December, I know it will probably be a flurry of activity. But I’ve come to realize that even during busy times, I can feel calm depending on the posture of my heart.

I hope to soak in each and every moment and memory that comes to pass in December! The days are fast, but the years are slow. So with purpose, I hope to plan fun things to enjoy right here in our own home.

This morning, my children opened up their advent calendar, and it was such a joyous time. Really, it wasn’t anything big in my opinion, but my little ones sure thought it was. It reminded me that it doesn’t take much to bring a little bit of magic and joy into our children’s lives.

Hopefully, we’ll have movie nights and bake cookies. I just rearranged a ton of books that were residing in our basement, so I can see lots of reading in our future, too.

Though I’m sure to be busy while preparing for the holidays, I plan to keep my heart calm with a little bit of planning and prayer. I truly believe that each day unfolds just as it’s meant to, and I need to trust that. This takes a huge load off of my shoulders, and allows me to enjoy each day as it comes.

Oh, I also plan to take walks in our woods and enjoy the trees and creatures that live on our property. I imagine we’ll be filling bird feeders, and talking to the herd of deer that visits us often. This will slow my heart down, for sure!

I hope that you have a wonderful December, and that it looks just like you hope for it to. I’m praying for nothing but blessings to you all!

Before I go, I’d like to share a free “Live Simply” printable I created for you all, back when my blog was called Redeeming Home. I hope you enjoy it!
