Hey friends, and welcome. I hope your winter has been full of rest and restoration so far.
I’ve spent a lot of time indoors, and have enjoyed it more than I thought I would. There has been lots of reading time, which has been fun.
I actually was reading to my children today when a quote from a boxed set of books sitting on my desk caught my eye.
“Objective judgement, now, at this very moment. Unselfish action, now, at this very moment. Willing acceptance, now, at this very moment – of all external events. That’s all you need.”
-Marcus Aurelius
This is a simple truth. I used to let my mind run away more often than not instead of looking at a moment objectively. Over time, I’ve gotten better at this. I remind myself to stop, and think about what is happening without letting my emotions color the situation, either for good or for bad.
Unselfish action is a key to living a fulfilled life. If we all decide to be selfish, then where does that leave us? We need to value ourselves, and realize that we are beautiful human beings. Then we can channel our energy into helping others.
I have caused myself so much grief by not willingly accepting something in my life. Sometimes I have gone down kicking and screaming! This has done nothing but cause me heartache, and the situation usually remains the same. Funny, isn’t it? Willing acceptance will help us to move on in life, without continually being stuck in the past.
If there is one constant in life, it is change. The quicker we accept this, the better.
Friends, we don’t need to be scared of what happens to us. I truly believe that things usually happen for our good, even when we don’t see it at the time.
Well, I’m off to finish helping my children with their homeschool work and put bread in the oven. I hope your day is wonderful!
Blessings, Nicole
