Counting Winter Blessings

Hello friends, and welcome to the blog! I hope you have had a lovely week so far.

It honestly doesn’t feel much like winter here right now. We have had thunderstorms galore, and the temperatures have rarely dipped below freezing. Our daffodils are poking their heads above the ground, much too early, I’m afraid!

I honestly expected a very cold winter, and have been in for a surprise. But I know the Lord knows best, and am thankful for the opportunity to spend some extra time outdoors.

I’m thankful for the time to rest more often, and to spend time with my little ones indoors when that is necessary, too. We definitely have more time to talk to each other if we are in our living spaces together. Even now when I type this, my eight-year-old is reading by my side. What a delight!

Speaking of reading, I’m thankful for more time to read! It has been such a blessing to curl up with my Bible or a good book lately. I have ordered many books from Amazon (maybe too many!) lately, and it is so exciting when a new one arrives.

I’m thankful for the time I’ve spent with my husband. We have gone on “running dates” each weekend during January, and they actually have been very fun! It is nice to spend time together in a new way. The exercise probably puts me in a good mood, too. Only six more weeks until our half marathon!

I’m thankful for my YouTube channel, too. It has been so much fun to make videos to share over there. I’m not a professional by any means, but it definitely is a fun hobby.

I’m also thankful for seed catalogs and the like. I just ordered our first seeds yesterday, and goodness was I excited! While I don’t garden much in the winter, the anticipation for spring is exciting in itself.

I hope and pray you have had a lovely winter, and have had many blessings to count! The Lord is so good, isn’t He?

Being thankful for what we have blesses God, and is good for us, too. A soul filled with gratitude is much more at peace than one that is always hoping for something “more.” This is a lesson I’m still learning, I’m afraid.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, friends. Let’s serve our home and family well!
